At Optical Expressions, we strive to meet all of your eye and vision care needs. Corrective lens evaluations and prescription management are provided by our optometrists in Clayton. After a comprehensive eye and vision evaluation, we will discuss the variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle. If you suffer from dry eye, allergies, or recurring eye infections, speak with your doctor to determine whether contact lenses are right for you.
Prior to prescribing contact lenses, we determine what type of vision correction you require. Refractive error (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them. Our staff will use an automated instrument to get a rough idea of your prescription and then your optometrist will fine-tune it using a phoropter. Accurate measurements of the curvature of the front of your eye (cornea) will also be taken. We will then discuss contact lens options and work with you to find the best lens for you.
After evaluating your vision and your eye health, we will work with you to determine which type of contact lens is best for you. Recent advances in contact lens design have made contact lens wear possible for patients with dry eyes or allergies. Contact lenses are available in soft, rigid gas permeable and hybrid designs. Whether you have astigmatism or need bifocals, we most likely will be able to offer an excellent contact lens option for you.
Advances in contact lens technology have created great options for cosmetic and prosthetic lenses. Custom contact lenses can be created to camouflage any color variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. Cosmetic lenses are also available to enhance or transform your eye color.
